What a fabulous weekend it was at @alnmouthartsfestival . So many people came through the doors. It was lovely to see familiar faces and lots of new folks too. There was a lively energy throughout the whole event. The only downside was not being able to scoot around the venues myself! . Thank you to everyone who visited, purchased and chatted with me about my art. A huge thank you to the organisers and my wonderful hosts @happy.horace.the.helpful.hound who so generously opened up their home to me and the arts festival visitors. It was the perfect venue for my work as so many people said! Thanks to all the other artists who make this such an exciting event. . 'Leaving before dawn' is now with its new owners in Alnmouth. A favourite piece of mine that was just waiting for the right time, right place and right people. Painted from sketches made in Seattle of the crab trawlers that head up to Alaska, it was much admired over the weekend. . #AlnmouthArtsFestival #NorthumberlandArt #ArtsFestival #Alnmouth . @theoldbathhouse

Just back from a couple of days in the Lakes. It was all weathers and went too fast but the fresh air and beautiful views were perfect. A day at this magical place meant sketching in the rain. It was perfect! Lowther castle has been stripped bare of everything but the walls. I could have sketched for hours! . #LowtherCastle #SketchbookHabit1 #Sketchbook #PleinAir

New early in progress drawing on the easel. I so enjoyed creating the three large portraits for Woodhorn Museum open exhibition. So, as I step into a new body of work, this feels like a good place to begin. I have a note to myself on my studio wall that says 'draw until something clicks'. I have been a bit quiet recently because I am in the (very) early stages of working on a new body of work. I am going back in time to something older in order to hopefully step forward. It is all very amorphous right now, so it feels a vulnerable space to be sitting in, in terms of sharing. . I am writing and reading and creating lots of early tenuous explorations. Also transferring potential ideas and possibilities out of the dark, closed pages of my notebook onto my walls so I have them to hand when the regular moments of doubt threaten to take over. I am hoping to reach a point of sharing and not overthinking soon. In the meantime, here is a stubborn still image of my sit and think space. The space is not stubborn. I am the stubborn one, posting still images on Instagram with words and thoughts, rather than 'that which is expected of us these days'. . Do you have a sit and think spot? I love mine. It is comfortable and quiet. . #StudioChair #SitAndThink
